A successful start to the year: the Deep Learning Train-the-Trainer Workshop "Basic Concepts

On February 7th and 8th, 2023, the ErUM Data Hub hosted the Deep Learning Train-the-Trainer Workshop "Basic Concepts".

The workshop concept Train-the-Trainer will be offered for the second time in 2023 due to high demand. The aim of this event is to train lecturers for future teaching activities and to provide material for lecture series on Deep Learning, including hands-on exercises.

This year's “Deep Learning Basic Concepts” Workshop took place in Garching. An outstanding team of speakers introduced participants to the topics of Neural Network Building Blocks (Prof. Johannes Erdmann, RWTH Aachen University), Mastering Model Building (Dr. Nicole Hartman, TUM), Convolutional Neural Networks (Dr. Judith Katzy, DESY), Recurrent Neural Networks (Dr. Nikolai Hartmann, LMU München) and Introspection of Neural Networks (Dr. Sven Krippendorf, LMU München)

A total of 30 participants from 6 ErUM communities enriched the event and contributed to an intensive discussion atmosphere.

We would like to thank Prof. Thomas Kuhr (LMU Munich) and Prof. Lukas Heinrich (TUM) for their great support on site, as well as the lecturers and the DIG-UM Topic Board Knowledge Distribution for their valuable input, their commitment and the successful event. We would like to thank the BMBF for the financial support.

The Train-the-Trainer Workshop „Advanced Concepts“ takes place in Dortmund on 19th and 20th June.
